University Hospitals is offering a Research Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery, ideal for a current PGY2/PGY3 seeking research experience during their surgical residency. The position is a fully funded two-year onsite research fellowship with an established colorectal team with a track record for academic productivity and research interests including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anorectal disease, educational research, gender and racial disparities, and outcomes and health sciences research. The fellowship consists of a formalized program in collaboration with the institution's surgical outcomes center, UH RISES. Practical training in advanced research skills at a large tertiary healthcare center and academic environment as well as weekly mentorship and research meetings will be provided. Clinical care is not part of the fellowship program. The fellow will receive training in and gain experience in: Study design and methodology, Critical analyses, Abstract preparation/manuscript publication/research presentation, Career development training. Qualifications Eligible candidates must hold an MD/DO degree and should have completed at least 2 years of surgical residency training (current PGY2 or PGY3). A categorical position at a home institution is preferred. Prior outcomes and research experience and interest in colon and rectal surgery or surgical oncology is strongly preferred.
