Huntington Hospital, located in Pasadena, California, is seeking a board-certified Surgeon with at least three years of outstanding clinical, academic, teaching and administrative experience to serve as Program Director of the General Surgery Training Program. The primary responsibility of this position, which will include 30%-50% administrative, non-clinical time, is to lead all activities of this well-established residency consisting of 17 general surgery residents, increasing by an additional 4 residents per year. The identified candidate will spend their remaining effort building a clinical practice within Huntington Health Physicians. Huntington Hospital performs more than 12,000 operations annually and residents receive an individualized learning experience and benefit from close interaction with our teaching faculty. Residents are immersed in advanced technologies including intensive robotics and laparoscopic training, specialty and sub-specialty led conference schedules and an American College of Surgeons accredited Surgical Skills Lab curriculum. Our teaching faculty hold clinical faculty appointments at the USC Keck School of Medicine and there is a recent affiliation with Cedars-Sinai Health System. There are 16 teaching faculty in the program spanning across seven specialties: Surgical Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Colorectal Surgery and Surgical Oncology. Major responsibilities include: • Authority and accountability for the General Surgery residency • Design and maintain a curriculum that meets the needs of the program and the missions of the hospital and sponsoring institution • Evaluate faculty upon joining the program and regularly thereafter • Establish programs for faculty development as educators • Communicate regularly with the DIO and Associate DIO, GMEC and ACGME • Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to training residents in each of the ACGME competencies • Ensure compliance with all institutional and ACGME policies and requirements • Oversee resident recruitment • Oversight of program budget, review of performance measures and use of staff resources Interested applicants should send their CV and cover letter to academicrecruiting@cshs.org Huntington Hospital Physician’s is dedicated to attracting, developing, and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that is compassionate and meets the needs of our community.
