Plastic Surgery Research Scholar
The Medical University of South Carolina, Division of Plastic Surgery has a one year research position available starting September 1, 2021. This position is open to residents or medical students, interested in improving their research experience and applying to plastic surgery residency. The individual will take a leading role in a number of projects and in writing multiple clinical plastic and reconstructive surgery abstracts, and manuscripts. This individual will work closely with a number of faculty, residents, and research staff within the division to help design studies and complete previously initiated studies, assist with obtaining future grant funding and IRB completion. At any given time, the scholar may be overseeing multiple projects.
Applicants must have an interest in learning IRB submission, study design, basic statistics, large database query and management, chart review, manuscript preparation/submission and grant writing. This individual will also need to have good organizational skills to help manage multiple projects, meetings, and deadlines. The scholar will be invited to participate in division conferences and educational activities throughout the year and be responsible for organizing weekly research meetings.
This 9-12 month position will lead to multiple clinical abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts published on which the scholar will be an author. Funding is not guaranteed and may be available depending on the year.
