PGY-2 Categorical Resident – Kalamazoo, MI

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a PGY-2 resident with a strong interest in rural, under-served urban, or global surgery to begin on July 1, 2021. All applicants must be current PGY-1 general surgery residents in good standing.
IMPORTANT
This is a position in WMed’s rural surgery track. This dedicated track builds 20 rural and subspecialty rotations into the five-year general surgery curriculum. Subspecialty rotations include Obstetrics, Urology, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Gynecology, and Otolaryngology.
The position is supported by a new program in Michigan called MI DOCs (Michigan Doctors), and is funded by the State of Michigan. MIDOCs offers up to $75,000 in loan repayment to residents who enter these positions in exchange for a commitment to practice for at least two years immediately following residency in an approved rural or urban underserved setting in Michigan.
In order to fulfill this commitment, MIDOCs residents must agree to forego any sub-specialty training for at least two years post-residency. You may find more information about the MIDOCs program here: https://www.michigandocs.org/
