Pediatric Surgery Clinical Research Scholar

This is a two-year pediatric surgery research fellowship in the Division of Pediatric Surgery, Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health. The program is designed for highly motivated general surgical residents interested in furthering the field and becoming future leaders in academic pediatric surgery. The fellowship will be focused on the development of prospective single center / multicenter clinical trials and observational studies of clinical pathways. It will incorporate health services research through large national databases. The fellow will be integrated into the pediatric surgery division that consists of clinical pediatric surgical fellows, basic science research fellows, surgical residents, and staff. The clinical research scholar will participate in on-going studies, as well as initiate new projects from study design to data analysis and manuscript preparation during their tenure through close faculty supervision. The program has several on-going studies, research personnel and access to support for study design and statistical methodologies. The ideal applicants must have completed categorical PGY2 year of general surgical residency and be interested in a career in academic pediatric surgery. The position is available 7/2022.
