Non-accredited fellowship in colorectal surgery and advanced colonoscopy (ESD/EMR)

This is a 1 year non-accredited fellowship. At LHH there are 6 Boarded Colorectal attendings while at NSUH there are 9 C&R attendings. The fellow will spend 9 months at LHH and 3 months at NSUH.
The fellow will first assist on the full spectrum of elective and emergent colorectal and anorectal surgical procedures at each location. The transabdominal surgical methods used at LHH and NSUH include robotic, straight laparoscopic, hand-assisted laparoscopic, and open methods for a full variety of benign and malignant indications. Also, this group of attendings does the usual array of anorectal cases for anorectal problems such as hemorrhoids, fistulas, fissure, and rectal prolapse. Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) and Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) methods are also used.
The fellow will also receive comprehensive training regarding the advanced colonoscopic methods of Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) utilizing an ex vivo porcine and bovine training program that includes 3 models. The fellow will also be involved with clinical ESD and EMR cases.
