The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System/University of Arizona is seeking one general surgery resident with strong interest in outcomes research in hepatobiliary and surgical oncology. This is a 1-year paid position (resident salary) to start July 1st, 2019. This research opportunity will focus on outcome research utilizing the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Databases. We will provide training in clinical research design of hypothesis-based projects, data analysis (SAS), and preparation of abstracts and manuscript writing. The successful candidate will have several opportunities for presentations at national meetings and will have access to robust hospital and university resources, biostatistical support, and a medical librarian. Participation in departmental meetings including weekly research meetings and academic teaching conferences is required. We are excited to mentor a focused and determined surgical resident who is eager for a successful future in academic surgery.
