Date Posted: April 29, 2022

The Connecticut Burn Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut is accepting applications for a one-year burn fellowship to begin July 1, 2022. Bridgeport Hospital, a member of the Yale-New Haven Health System, has the only dedicated burn unit in the state of Connecticut. The burn fellow must have completed two years of general surgery training. Duties will encompass the entirety of burn care, from initial resuscitation to burn excision and grafting to reconstruction. The fellow will work closely with the burn team of surgery, nursing, therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, social work, and palliative care to manage each patient. While the majority of the operative experience will be related to acute burn care, scar management and laser therapy will also be an important part of the educational experience. The fellow is expected to participate in burn research and to present at regional and national burn meetings, for which funding is available. Unfortunately, visas cannot be sponsored.
