Clinical Research Fellow in Pediatric Surgery
The position as Pediatric Surgical Research Fellow at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is a clinical research fellowship. The area of study can be tailored to the interests of the fellow. Projects in the past have encompassed a broad array of topics from general pediatric surgery, thoracic surgery, and pediatric trauma. The research fellow participates in the senior call schedule (supported by a junior resident or PA who is also in-house) and so must have completed their PGY-3 year in General Surgery. The research fellow also steps into the role of clinical fellow when the single accredited fellow is off (some weekends, vacation, conferences, etc). This allows for very good exposure to clinical pediatric surgery. The research fellow is supported by the hospital with a fellow level salary and benefits as well as funds for books and travel to present results at conferences.
