University of Toledo
Date Posted: June 11, 2018

Prerequisites: Applicants must have completed at least 1 year of training in an ACGME approved program any primary care specialties such as Psychiatry, Pediatric, Internal Medicine, Neurology or Family medicine. We have 2 -openings for a position in our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program to begin training on July 1, 2018. UTMC has run a successful child psychiatry fellowship since 1976, one of longest-standing programs in the region. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program provides an unparalleled scope of clinical services and wide range of experiences. Services include a child and an adolescent inpatient unit, outpatient experience, training in Autism spectrum/neurodevelopmental disorders, child abuse and neglect, as well as a in the full range of acute and chronic disorders. Fellows have exposure to multidisciplinary assessments of children with developmental disabilities, exposure to unique and dynamic cases, as well as evaluations and treatment of children and adolescents in both urban and rural settings, in addition to a full didactic curriculum delivered by experienced and supportive faculty. While it is preferable to have a resident from psychiatry background, our fellowship program gladly welcomes residents from backgrounds in primary care training like Pediatrics, Family medicine or IM, as these graduates will help bridge the gap between primary care and psychiatry, and contribute to our new collaborative care initiatives. Our faculty and current fellows will accommodate residents joining from other specialties to smoothly transition into child psychiatry fellowship with thorough training and introduction to fields. We are looking for people who are genuinely interested in child psychiatry considering the shortage of nationwide child psychiatrist especially in Northwestern Ohio area. Special notes to applicant with children: Most of our residents find affordable housing in Sylvania district or Perrysburg school districts, where school ratings are excellent (9 or 10). The combination of some of the best-rated public schools and low cost of living/affordable housing even for a resident salary makes this a very attractive place for families. Also UTMC allows tuition discount for spouses and dependents pursuing degrees.
