The Department of Surgery at UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program is a five-year ACGME-accredited Surgery Residency Program provides outstanding, broad-based, clinical general surgery education. From day one until completion of the program, residents have a wealth of one-on-one faculty mentoring and opportunities in diverse clinical settings. Residents obtain tremendous hands-on experience providing care to patients from pediatric through geriatric age groups. Training takes place primarily at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) and Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital with experiences at several outpatient offices, procedural centers and affiliated University Centers of Excellence. CRMC is the area's only Level I trauma center and burn center with a catchment area population of over one million. There are robust experiences in trauma, critical care, burns and emergency general surgery. The UCSF Fresno Surgery Residency has an opening in the categorical general surgery training program at the PGY-2 level to start July 1, 2021.
