Valley Health System Associate Program Director in General Surgery- Valley Health System is seeking a BC general surgeon with at least 3 years academic experience training residents to assist in the running of the ACGME approved general surgery residency in Las Vegas, NV. Applicants will report to the General Surgery Program Director and the DIO within the Graduate Medical Education department of VHS. The associate program director will oversee the Clinical Competency Committee, will assist the Program Evaluation Committee, and assist in managing the various conferences required for resident education. Furthermore, the APD will assist in applicant selection, interviews and matching of new residents. The APD will also need to provide guidance for research projects of interest and serve as an example to all healthcare providers in the hospital setting. Along with the administrative tasks, the APD will practice clinically. All specialties of general surgery are welcome to apply. Residents will be involved in all aspects of clinical practice with the APD. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a true mentor to the trainees. The APD will have 35% protected time from clinical responsibilities to perform their administrative tasks. Valley Health System General Surgery Residency has 4 categorical residents/year and 8 preliminary residents. Candidates are also eligible for faculty appointment at a local medical school and have access to research infrastructure including a post doc and statistician.
