Dr. George Miller is a Surgical Oncologist, Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery, Professor of Surgery and Cell Biology, Director and Principal Investigator of the S. Arthur Localio Laboratory at NYU Langone Medical Center. The S. Arthur Localio Research Laboratory is one of the top surgical research labs in the world. Dr. Miller is seeking Volunteer Research Fellows to work on pancreatic cancer immunology and chronic liver diseases. Individuals seeking to boost their credentials in preparation for residency application are encouraged to apply. This is a non-paid full-time volunteer position. A commitment of 1 year is necessary. The Research Fellow will train under the mentorship of Dr. George Miller and their assigned Post-Doc Fellow to design and carryout experiments investigating immune regulation in the pancreatic cancer tumor micro-environment. Applicants should have an M.D. or Ph.D. Previous basic science research experience is an asset but not essential. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are desired. Our volunteers tend to be extremely hard working and as a result they are very successful in matching into residency programs. With the involvement of Dr. Miller, our Post-Doc Fellows and the commitment of everyone’s career development; we have successfully placed volunteers in general surgery, internal medicine and pathology programs.
