Trauma Fellowship

Medical College of Wisconsin
Date Posted: February 21, 2019

MCW/Froedtert Trauma Center in Milwaukee has an opening for academic year 2019 in Trauma Surgery. This is a one year position that offers a focus on operative approaches to Trauma and Complex Acute Care Surgery. The position offers the flexibility to rotate on dedicated thoracic and vascular surgery rotations, as well as, the opportunity to rotate on a trauma service in Colombia or South Africa for a month. Froedtert Trauma Center is the only level I trauma center in Milwaukee, which is the largest city in Wisconsin with approximately 1.5M population. The trauma service admits approximately 2800 traumas per year, not including non-trauma services, with 20% penetrating trauma mechanisms. There is ample opportunity for operative experience and the fellow will function as a junior faculty member with an appointment at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The fellow is always on call with an experienced trauma faculty member and is groomed to be a confident and independent trauma surgeon. We have 14 trauma surgeons in the group who are double board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. In addition to a great group, Milwaukee is a great place to live and has lots to do outside work. Applicants must have graduated an ACGME or equivalent general surgical residency at the time of enrollment and be board eligible for General Surgery.
