Date Posted: January 4, 2019

Sponsored by Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and primarily based at Jacobi Medical Center, the Fellowship is accredited by the ACGME and recruiting candidates for the 2019-2020 academic year (to begin August 1, 2018). Jacobi Medical Center, located in the Bronx, is part of New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation and is an American College of Surgery verified Level I Trauma Center. With approximately 2000 trauma admissions (80% blunt, 20% penetrating) a year, Jacobi is one of the busiest trauma centers among a total of 16 in NYC. Additionally, Jacobi is one of only three burn centers in NYC. Fellows will do nine months of critical care to be board eligible for Surgical Critical Care. However, there will be ample opportunity for operative experience in trauma and acute care surgery, as well as other elective ICU rotations. The trauma division has a robust clinical research program with a full-time research coordinator/statistician available to assist those interested in research. The Fellow will be supported by residents from the Montefiore General Surgery Program and five core faculty boarded in Surgical Critical Care. Suitable candidates should have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited general surgery program to be board eligible or certified.
