University Hospitals Research in Surgical Outcomes and Effectiveness (RISES) Center in Cleveland, OH is offering a fully funded two-year onsite research fellowship in the field of colon and rectal surgery starting in July 2020. The UH RISES Research Fellow will spend two years conducting surgical outcomes and health sciences research with faculty and residents as part of the outcomes center at University Hospitals. Opportunities also exist for participation in diversity and educational research initiatives.
The fellowship consists of practical training in advanced research skills in a large tertiary healthcare center and academic environment. Clinical care is not part of the fellowship program, but there is considerable contact with clinicians. The fellow will receive training and gain experience in study design and methodology, statistical analyses, abstract and manuscript presentation, and career development training.

Eligible candidates must hold an MD/DO degree and should have completed at least 2 years of surgical residency training. Prior outcomes and research experience is strongly preferred. This opportunity is ideal for a PGY2/PGY3 seeking research experience prior to applying for a colon and rectal surgery residency.
