Texas Tech University Health Science Center General Surgery Residency Program in El Paso, Texas. has an available PGY 3 Categorical position in general surgery beginning July 1, 2018. Orientation begins June 22, 2018. We are a trauma level 1 center with an emphasis on trauma and critical care. The hospital also has accreditation by the ACS Commission on Cancer. Past graduates have pursued fellowship training to include plastics, surgical oncology, vascular, cardiothoracic and pediatric surgery. Expectations for the PGY-3 level include management of the ICU and care for all trauma admissions as the primary on call resident for general surgery and trauma. Residents entering the PGY-3 year are competent in basic laparoscopy and endoscopy and have completed over 250 cases as primary surgeon.

Qualified applicants must have: • Successfully completed a PGY 1 year in an ACGME accredited general surgery training program. • Successfully completed a PGY 2 / or are currently completing a PGY 2 year in an ACGME accredited general surgery training program. • Applicants must be in good standing with their program.
