PGY-2 General Surgery Preliminary Position

The General Surgery Residency Program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ has openings for four preliminary PGY-2 positions beginning July 1, 2018. All applicants must have completed a PGY-1 general surgery residency in good standing in an ACGME-accredited residency. Because of time constraints, no residents requiring visas can be considered. The Department of Surgery is composed of the following divisions: (1) General Surgery (2) Trauma/Surgical Critical Care (3) Cardiothoracic (4) Vascular (5) Liver Transplantation (6) Plastic and Reconstructive (7) Surgical Oncology. Surgical residents are granted autonomy in diagnosis and clinical decision making, and provided supervision in the operating room, while developing their critical thinking and deductive reasoning abilities. We also have a simulation lab with FLS trainers and the GI mentor for FES practice. One two hour protected time session per month is dedicated to simulation training.
