We have an immediate opening for a Surgical Education Fellow and Instructor position at the Penn Medicine Surgical Simulation Center. The Penn Simulation Center at Rittenhouse Square is a state of the art, dedicated 22,000 square foot simulation center which is accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Level 1 Simulation Center and by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare; the most recent re-accreditation was awarded on November 2015 for 5 years. This fellowship/instructor position will be a 1 or 2 year funded position and is open to surgeons, physicians or surgeons in training with an interest in surgical education and simulation. The objective is to develop future leaders and train scholarly pursuit in surgical education. The fellowship is geared towards obtaining a Masters in Medical Education degree. The successful candidate will gain first-hand expertise with regard to simulated patient scenarios, technical skills training (including several virtual reality and animal tissue trainers) and team training. A significant component of the Fellowship is based upon academic research, within the areas of surgical education, skills assessment and outcomes analysis. There are opportunities to be involved in several ongoing research projects with mentorship.
