Department of Plastic Surgery at University of Kansas Medical Center is looking for a qualified candidate for burn fellowship position for academic year 2016-17. This is a non accredited fellowship position. Burnett Burn Center at University of Kansas Hospital, areas only ACS-ABA verified pediatric and adult burn unit, treats approximately 400 acute burn and complex wound patients per year. 16 bed unit has 8 ICU beds and its own dedicated operating room facility. Fellow is involved in all aspects of care of these critically ill patients. Fellow works with residents, mid-level providers and other multi-disciplinary team members in care for burn patients and takes lead in formulating care plan as well as surgical treatment. There are opportunities for invovlement in reconstructive procedures for late burn complications and clinical research. Fellows are encouraged to submit abstracts for annual national and regional burn conferences. Applicants are expected to have completed General Surgery or Plastic Surgery training. Applicants with completion of 2-3 years of General Surgery training will be considered too.
