Division Chief - General Surgery Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Associate Professor or Professor The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is seeking a Division Chief to lead our General Surgery program. The Department of Surgery at SIU SOM has an international reputation in surgical education, and General Surgery remains highly productive in the areas of educational scholarship as well as in outcomes research. Specialties represented within the division include trauma and critical care, transplantation, surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, bariatrics, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical endoscopy. Division faculty provide the academic foundation for the institution’s general surgery residency program and a colorectal residency, as well as the Southern Illinois Trauma Center and Memorial Advanced Hernia Center. Current division faculty are involved in leadership roles with several national boards and other thought leadership groups in surgery. In May, 2015, Memorial Medical Center opened one of the nation’s largest and technologically advanced learning facilities. The new 4 story Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation and SIU Surgical Skills Training Center further expands SIU’s vision to be a national leader for excellence in healthcare learning and innovation.
